Job summary

Legend Brands is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for the design, development, testing, and launch of durable electromechanical consumer products. You will provide technical leadership across mechanical, refrigeration, electrical, and embedded-system disciplines.

The role requires eight years of experience and at least four years leading technical staff, with strong skills in SolidWorks, DFMA, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering required.
  • Eight years of applicable work experience required.
  • Minimum four years leading technical staff.
  • Experience leading, coaching, and developing a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Experience in design for manufacturing and assembly (DFM/DFA) and transitioning durable consumer products into production.
  • Skilled in plastic part design, injection molding, tooling, and material selection.
  • Skilled in product verification, validation, reliability testing, and root-cause analysis.
  • Skilled in 3D CAD, specifically SolidWorks.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles and electromechanical product development.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration systems, thermal management, and airflow design.
  • Knowledge of engineering documentation, BOMs, revisions, and engineering changes.
  • Knowledge of product safety and regulatory requirements (UL, CSA, ETL, FCC).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, schedules, risks, and deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for design, development, testing, and launch of durable electromechanical consumer products.
  • Provide technical leadership across mechanical, refrigeration, electrical/electronic, and embedded-system disciplines.
  • Manage engineering priorities, workloads, schedules, and resources to support product-development objectives.
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, and develop engineering personnel while managing performance and career development.
  • Establish engineering best practices, processes, and technical standards across the organization.
  • Review and approve product designs, calculations, specifications, test plans, drawings, and documentation.
  • Provide technical oversight of refrigeration and thermal systems including compressors, heat exchangers, and controls.
  • Guide design of plastic components and assemblies, including injection-molded housings and manufacturability.
  • Apply knowledge of plastic tooling and molding to optimize quality, durability, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Ensure products meet UL, CSA, ETL, FCC, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Lead design reviews, DFMEAs, risk assessments, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Drive projects from concept through production launch and lifecycle support.
  • Manage schedules, deliverables, risks, and resources to meet timing, cost, quality, and performance objectives.
  • Partner with Product Management, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, QA, Procurement, and Supply Chain to transition products into production.
  • Manage engineering changes with proper evaluation, validation, and communication.
  • Support manufacturing and suppliers in resolving production issues and quality concerns.
