Job summary

Allstate is seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead the engineering vision for our Legal Technology ecosystem. You will drive cloud‑native architectures, scalable integrations, and AI‑powered solutions while mentoring engineers and partnering with Legal, Compliance, Security, and Technology teams.

The role combines hands‑on software development (≈80%) with architecture, production support, and leadership (≈20%), focusing on reliability, security, and high‑quality delivery.

Qualifications

• Strong hands‑on experience with Java, Spring Boot, microservices, REST APIs, and event‑driven architectures.
• Proficiency in Python for automation and platform engineering.
• Experience designing and supporting highly available production systems with accountability for reliability, security, and performance.
• Strong experience with enterprise integrations, API management, workflow orchestration, SaaS platforms, and messaging technologies such as Kafka.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases, container platforms such as Kubernetes, and cloud‑native data services.
• Strong expertise with Microsoft Azure and/or AWS cloud platforms.
• Experience building or integrating AI‑powered solutions using Azure OpenAI, LLMs, RAG, vector databases, or related technologies.
• Familiarity with AI frameworks such as LangChain, Semantic Kernel, or similar orchestration platforms.
• Experience with AI‑driven search, knowledge management, or information retrieval solutions is a plus.
• Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating directly with business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, development, integration, and support of Legal Technology products.
• Design, develop, and maintain cloud‑native apps, APIs, integrations, and event‑driven services.
• Contribute to software development through hands‑on coding, reviews, and production support.
• Integrate vendor‑provided legal apps with enterprise systems at scale.
• Drive decisions on cloud platforms, modernization, data management, and AI services.
• Own reliability, security, performance, and operational excellence of platforms.
• Partner with product managers and stakeholders to deliver business outcomes.
• Design and implement AI solutions using Generative AI, LLMs, RAG, and automation.
• Ensure governance, security, privacy, and regulatory compliance in AI initiatives.
• Lead experimentation and adoption of new AI technologies and legal tech solutions.
• Oversee platform lifecycle, vendor relationships, and upgrades.
