Job summary

Bodycote is seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee maintenance, installation, and upgrade of thermal processing equipment and related facilities. You will collaborate with business leaders to drive performance, assign work, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance across sites.

The role requires leading large decentralized engineering teams, PFMEA and lean initiatives, and strong vendor relations. It involves extensive travel and close coordination with operations and EHS teams.

Qualifications

• U.S. Citizens or permanent residents for ITAR compliance.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent experience in vacuum furnaces and infrastructure.
• 10+ years maintenance/installation management across multi-plant scope.
• 5+ years leading large, decentralized engineering teams.
• PFMEA, 5 Whys, 8D, fault tree problem solving experience.
• Hands-on heat treat systems maintenance preferred.
• Troubleshooting PLCs, hydraulics, pneumatics knowledge.
• Understanding of plant operations and capital projects.
• Greenfield capital equipment implementation experience.
• Willing to obtain Six Sigma Black Belt; lean process experience.
• Strong communication and cross-functional partnership skills.
• Read blueprints and purchase orders; guidance to sites.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance planning with site leaders and Capital Projects.
• Support capital projects with Technical Services collaboration.
• Build supplier/contractor relationships for equipment and infra.
• Develop maintenance KPIs and track MTTR; report to leadership.
• Provide engineering oversight for heat treatment furnaces and heavy equipment.
• Create and implement maintenance training with EHS input.
• Travel up to 75% across North America facilities.
