Job summary

Datadog is seeking an Engineering Manager II to own and grow the Observability Pipelines engineering org in New York. You will co-own the roadmap with Product, scale an on-premise, vendor-agnostic telemetry pipeline, and mentor a distributed team of managers and ICs.

You'll shape operating rhythms, set standards for on-call and incident response, and partner across SaaS Logs, BYOC, and open-source communities to drive impact at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience leading managers across distributed teams.
• Strong background in distributed systems and high-throughput data infrastructure.
• Familiarity with on-premises or customer-installed software and related operator tradeoffs.
• Strategic partner to Product, helping set the roadmap and investment.
• Commercial awareness: connecting engineering choices to business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Directly manage the Observability Pipelines org including EM1s across NYC and Paris.
• Scale the management and technical leadership layers as the org grows (~20 ICs).
• Co-own the roadmap and strategy with Product, guiding engineering investment.
• Set operating rhythm: planning cadence, on-call, incident standards, cross-team alignment.
• Maintain cross-org relationships with SaaS Logs Pipelines, BYOC, and open-source communities.
• Coach managers and senior engineers; develop succession and growth plans.
