Job summary

Google's YouTube Commerce team seeks a Software Engineering Manager II to lead an engineering group responsible for core order orchestration and subscription lifecycle management, across multiple teams and sites.

You will drive technical roadmaps, ensure reliability and financial accuracy, mentor engineers, and collaborate with Product, UX, and Payments to shape the future of YouTube's consumer business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
• Experience designing, building, or managing distributed systems, transactional backends, or commerce/billing infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Set and communicate team priorities aligned with broader organizational goals, while establishing clear expectations and regularly providing performance feedback and coaching.
• Review code developed by engineers to ensure quality, testability, efficiency, and adherence to style and development best practices.
• Develop the mid-term technical vision and roadmap within the scope of your team(s).
• Evolve the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements and infrastructure needs.
• Lead the architecture and delivery of high-throughput, fault-tolerant distributed systems and workflow orchestration engines for order lifecycle and subscription transitions.
