Job summary

Materion is seeking a Senior Capital Projects Manager for the Elmore, Ohio facility to provide technical leadership and oversee large capital projects (>$40M). You will work with matrix teams, manage scope, budgets, and schedules, and ensure successful project execution under the VP of Strategic Projects.

Experience in manufacturing project delivery, strong communication, and ability to lead multifunctional teams is essential.

Qualifications

  • Requires a BS in an engineering field and 10+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing environments.
  • 5+ years in Project Management delivering medium to large capital projects up to $40M.
  • Proficient with MS Office, MS Project and Visio; knowledge of SAP, SharePoint; contracts, schedules and cost estimation.

Job description

Overview

Based out of Materion Elmore Ohio facility, this position will provide technical leadership and manage the execution of larger projects (>$40M). You will work closely with team members in a matrix environment to ensure all project requirements, deadlines, budgets, and schedules are on track. Under the direction of the VP of Strategic Projects, the SCPM will oversee and manage large capital projects for the Elmore site with proper project scoping, planning, development, and execution.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and lead large-sized capital projects/programs with the ability to build and lead effective internal and external project teams.
  • Handle multiple smaller projects when large projects are not being pursued.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, finances, risks, and resources to meet project objectives.
  • Use Front‑End Loading (FEL) and/or Front‑End Engineering Design (FEED), and the Stage‑Gate Process for developing, leading and managing projects.
  • Effectively manage equipment FATs, Installations, SATs, and startups, including project closeout and post‑mortem analysis with proper handoff and signoffs.
  • Coordinate with and influence cross‑functional teams (operations, maintenance, EHS, finance, quality, continuous improvement, T&I) to gain alignment with the overall project plan and initiatives.
  • Establish and continually manage project expectations with team members and other stakeholders.
  • Define scope, deliverables, success criteria and key metrics of the project in conjunction with site personnel and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor project budget and resource usage, with accurate spending forecast.
  • Work with procurement on vendor selection, prequalification, and bid packages and overall vendor‑client relationship for successful project execution.
  • Facilitate change requests to ensure all parties are informed of the impacts on schedule and budget.
  • Make effective presentations of technical material to non‑technical people, both written and verbal.
  • Prepare project reports/presentations for management reviews.
  • Lead regular project reviews, communicate status of projects, risks, and actively exercise mitigation plans.
  • Proactively deal with confrontation and deliver win‑win solutions for the business.
Qualifications

Education: BS degree in an engineering field (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Civil) required. Preferred: PMP certification, Professional Engineering License.

Experience: Minimum 10 years of engineering in manufacturing plant environments supporting and managing medium to large capital projects up to $40M; 5+ years in Project Management with a track record of executing projects from concept to completion.

Technical Skills: Proficient with MS Office, MS Project and Visio; solid knowledge of contracts (design & construction), schedules, cost estimating and the design process; working knowledge of SAP, SharePoint, project management software.

Preferred: Experience running projects in a metals industry; working with Third‑Party Engineering Services, Contract Consultants and Construction Contractors.

Export Compliance Eligibility: Candidate must qualify as a U.S. citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, asylee or refugee, or a non‑prohibited national with a letter of assurance, or be approved for an export license under ITAR/EAR regulations.
