Job summary
LaunchCode seeks an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing software development team supporting enterprise eCommerce platforms in St. Louis.
You will drive technical strategy, mentor engineers, and improve development processes while delivering scalable, customer-focused applications. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in software engineering and 4+ years in leadership, with expertise in modern enterprise technologies and Azure cloud services.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering, Software Development, or Operations
- 4+ years of experience leading and managing technical teams
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field
- Experience with enterprise software engineering best practices including code reviews, source control, CI/CD, testing, and deployment
- Strong understanding of application and infrastructure security best practices
- Experience with modern web technologies including JavaScript, Node.js, .NET/C#, Java, PHP, HTML, CSS, REST APIs, microservices, message queues, and relational databases
- Experience designing and delivering enterprise applications supporting eCommerce, ERP, CRM, Order Management, or similar business platforms
- Experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to balance business priorities with technical architecture decisions
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of approximately 10 software engineers
- Drive engineering strategy and align technical initiatives with business objectives
- Partner with Product Managers, QA, and cross-functional teams to deliver scalable, high-quality solutions
- Promote Agile best practices through sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and continuous improvement
- Collaborate with Operations, SRE, and Platform teams to troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability
- Coach engineers on technical design, architecture, and professional development
- Ensure projects meet quality, security, performance, and delivery expectations
- Manage team workload, priorities, and resource allocation
- Support recruiting, interviewing, and hiring efforts for engineering talent
- Partner with senior technical leaders on architecture, infrastructure, scalability, and technology decisions
- Foster a collaborative, innovative engineering culture focused on continuous improvement
