Job summary

Sterling Engineering is seeking an Engineering Manager – Electrical Power Systems to lead a multi-site engineering team responsible for medium-voltage switchgear and substation equipment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical engineering and engineering management, driving process improvements and overseeing a diverse team across multiple locations.

This high-impact role involves technical direction, team development, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. Relocation assistance is available for candidates willing to work in Los Angeles, CA.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of electrical engineering experience required.
• 5+ years in a leadership or engineering management role.
• Strong background in medium-voltage switchgear and substation systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, testing, and validation of switchgear.
• Serve as technical SME for protection & control systems.
• Manage and develop a distributed engineering and test team.

Skills

Medium-voltage switchgear experience

Knowledge of UL, ANSI, IEEE, NEC standards

Electrical engineering leadership experience

Engineering process improvement

OEM, EPC, or utility/power systems experience

Willingness to travel

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
