Datadog is seeking a Manager I, Engineering for Coordination Systems Storage in New York, NY. You will lead a core team responsible for essential configuration storage and distribution used across Datadog services, while staying hands-on with development and reliability work.

The role emphasizes operational excellence and collaboration across teams, with opportunities to influence runtime configuration and control planes across the platform.

Qualifications

• Strong distributed systems expertise with failure modes and end-to-end observability.
• Experience in platform teams delivering internal infrastructure.
• Proven experience handling major incidents as responder and owner.
• Excellent cross-team collaboration and stakeholder management.
• Solid coding foundation with performance optimizations and profiling.

Responsibilities

• Lead a core team of 5 engineers (distributed, with majority in NYC).
• Lead ceremonies, prioritize and delegate projects.
• Stay hands-on with the code, e.g. isolated features, small remediations, investigation follow ups.
• Stay actively involved in operations, incidents, root cause analysis, etc.
• Constantly promote a culture of operational excellence, organizing gamedays, conducting operational reviews, staying proactive with reliability.
