Job summary

Ontic is seeking an Engineering Manager for Configuration Management & Applications Engineering in Chatsworth, CA. You will lead CM and AE teams, drive ANSI/EIA-649 compliance, and shepherd customer requirements from proposals through product lifecycle.

You will mentor engineers, manage staffing and budgets, and partner across Functions to deliver controlled, auditable engineering changes while protecting critical IP and ensuring on-time program execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline; 15+ years industry experience in related capacity.
• 8+ years engineering experience in aerospace, defense, or highly regulated manufacturing.
• 3+ years of engineering leadership or management experience.
• Demonstrated experience with Configuration Management principles and processes.
• Working knowledge of ANSI/EIA-649 Configuration Management Standard.
• Experience supporting proposal development and engineering cost estimation.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing, product lifecycle management, and engineering documentation.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and develop Configuration Management and Applications Engineering personnel.
• Establish departmental objectives, performance metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with business goals.
• Manage staffing, workload prioritization, budgets, and resource allocation across both functions.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and customer focus.
• Lead CM processes, audits, and integration with PLM and ERP systems.
• Coordinate cross-functional inputs for RFQs/RFPs and contract support.
• Develop engineering labor estimates, schedules, and cost inputs for proposals and programs.
• Identify technical risks and mitigation strategies."
