Job summary

U.S. Bank is seeking an experienced engineering leader to guide multiple Scrum teams and shape modern payment platforms.

The role focuses on setting architecture direction, driving cloud-native transformations, and delivering scalable, compliant solutions across product, security, and risk teams. The ideal candidate brings extensive leadership in large-scale enterprise projects, hands-on experience with microservices, and a strong background in DevSecOps and observability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
• Six to eight years of relevant technical experience.
• Five or more years of leading a software engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor high-performing software engineers and architects, supporting technical growth, career development, and engineering excellence.
• Define and execute architecture strategy, technology roadmaps, and modernization initiatives for credit card processing platforms.
• Drive transformation of legacy/mainframe-based payment systems to cloud-native, microservices-based architectures.
• Establish architecture standards, governance practices, solution review processes, and engineering best practices.
• Partner with Product, Infrastructure, Security, Operations, and Risk teams to deliver scalable, resilient, and compliant payment solutions.
• Lead multiple Agile Scrum teams, ensuring alignment of priorities, execution, and delivery of business value.
• Guide solution architecture decisions, API strategies, integration patterns, observability, and reliability engineering practices.
• Champion DevSecOps, CI/CD automation, cloud adoption, and engineering operational excellence.
• Manage technical risks, platform resiliency, security requirements, and regulatory compliance for payment systems.
• Influence cross-functional stakeholders and senior leadership on technology investments, modernization strategies, and architectural direction.
