Job summary

Stripe is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Checkout Optimization team in Chicago to lead a cross-functional group of full-stack product and data engineers. You’ll mentor, set direction, and drive delivery across the full development lifecycle, balancing customer impact with scalable architecture.

You’ll partner with Product, Design, Data Science, and Data Engineering to ship high-conversion checkout experiences, while fostering a culture of experimentation and rapid iteration at scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of engineering management experience leading teams of 5+ engineers.
• 10+ years of full-time software development with backend focus.
• Experience working across geographies.
• Experience leading growth or product teams driven by experimentation.
• Experience building extensible software solutions with strong user empathy.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage a team of full-stack product and data engineers, providing mentorship and guidance.
• Prioritize workstreams by understanding buyer/agent needs to deliver high-quality checkout experiences.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, Data Engineering, and other Stripe teams to deliver solutions.
• Lead experimentation and optimization work to improve checkout conversion and buyer experiences.
• Build and evolve the data platform enabling reliable, self-serve analysis and product decisions across OCS.
• Recruit top engineering talent in partnership with Stripe’s recruiting team.
