Job summary

Anthropic is seeking an Engineering Manager, Research Data Platform to lead the design and delivery of scalable data systems used by researchers and engineers. You will translate user needs into technical direction, own core datasets end to end, and mentor a growing team focused on reliability, performance, and trust.

You will work closely with research teams to embed with their workflows, ship improvements, and drive canonical data models such as the RL data core, while keeping interfaces

Qualifications

• Experience in designing and operating data-intensive systems at scale.
• Ability to translate user needs into technical direction for a data platform.
• Proven experience leading or mentoring engineers.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with researchers and engineers to understand workflows and shape product direction.
• Set the technical direction for platform and datasets across teams.
• Design and build platform components that others plug into, including libraries and interfaces.
• Own core datasets end to end: pipelines, schemas, and documentation.
• Drive convergence toward canonical datasets, starting with the RL data model.
• Lead complex, multi-quarter projects while staying hands-on in code.
• Raise technical bar through reviews, mentorship, and personal work quality.
