Job summary

Kira is seeking an Engineering Manager in the United States to lead a diverse team building core product and platform capabilities. You will own people, technical quality, and outcomes for classroom-focused software in a large monorepo across frontend, backend, AI services, and real-time collaboration.

The role involves hands-on coding when impactful, deep architectural review, and coaching senior engineers. Remote-friendly with on-site days in SF or NYC; cross-time-zone collaboration is common.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience.
• 8+ years professional engineering experience including designing, shipping, and operating production systems.
• 2+ years managing mid, senior and lead level software engineers.
• Strong system design and debugging skills across architecture, APIs, data models, distributed systems.

Responsibilities

• Turn company priorities into clear problems, ownership, and milestones; identify critical path and anticipate risks.
• Review substantial changes, coach engineers on design, debugging, performance, reliability, and security.
• Provide meaningful ownership and mentorship to engineers, especially in ambiguous environments.
• Help define problems with Product/Design and ensure real classrooms usability.
