Job summary

SkyPilot, based in San Mateo, CA, is looking for its first Engineering Manager to grow and scale the engineering team. You will report to the CTO, work closely with the founders, and stay hands-on while shaping product directions for AI infrastructure.

You will review customer call recordings, aggregate feature requests, and convert them into a prioritized roadmap. You will also lead efforts to ensure reliability, security, and performance of the platform used by frontier AI teams.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• 3+ years managing engineers (teams of 10+).
• Experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• Hands-on with Kubernetes or Slurm, and familiar with GPU workloads.
• Comfortable acting as the product manager for your area.
• Strong product intuition and care for developer experience and enterprise needs.

Responsibilities

• Build and lead a high-performance engineering team.
• Drive technical directions through reviews and architecture decisions.
• Own reliability, security, and operational standards for the control plane.
• Shape product directions by prioritizing requests and roadmap.
• Deliver milestones and manage incidents and escalation.
