Job summary

NerdWallet, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager for the Consumer Credit Cards Marketplaces to lead a hands-on, high-performance team building NerdWallet’s top web shopping experiences.

You will steer technical direction, enable AI-enabled development, and drive architecture while mentoring 3–4 engineers. You’ll collaborate across SEO, product, marketing, and data teams to deliver scalable solutions with a focus on quality, observability, and security.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software engineering with hands-on Technical Lead experience.
• Experience with modern front-end frameworks and performance optimization.
• Experience architecting back-end APIs/microservices for scalable systems.
• Understanding of SQL and NoSQL databases and high-volume data processing.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and container orchestration.
• Knowledge of security/compliance in financial services.

Responsibilities

• Own both the technical direction and people outcomes for a high-traffic web shopping experience team.
• Drive architecture, technical decisions, planning, and milestones.
• Develop and evolve the AI development harness and agentic automations across the lifecycle.
• Mentor engineers, conduct 1:1s, and implement growth plans.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership to improve performance, observability, and developer experience.
• Lead modernization efforts including AI tooling adoption and secure coding practices.
• Ensure platform stability, resilient operation, and effective incident management.
• Balance quality with delivery velocity and drive high-quality code through the team.
