Job summary

Collective in San Francisco is hiring an Engineering Manager to build and evolve the core product experiences powering our member platform. This leadership role blends hands-on coding with people leadership across Product, Design, and Operations and encourages the use of modern AI tools and agent-based workflows to accelerate development.

You will guide architecture, delivery of complex projects, and collaboration with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to ship fast and learn from

Qualifications

• 8–10+ years software engineering experience.
• 2+ years of management experience.
• Experience with architecture, design, and data modeling.
• Experience leading teams delivering a product with solid foundations.
• Ability to collaborate with non-technical stakeholders and weigh tradeoffs.
• Proven track record fostering a healthy, high-performance work environment.

Responsibilities

• Act as a player-coach, balancing hands-on technical contribution and people leadership.
• Lead, mentor, and grow ICs, fostering a culture of high-performance and empathy.
• Work with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver a robust platform.
• Define, own, and ensure timely delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
• Drive clarity about architecture, design, and product decisions across teams.
• Interface effectively with non-technical stakeholders and Operations teams.
• Contribute to engineering-wide initiatives and drive conversations to executive leadership.
