Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering with meaningful senior or staff-level time.
• 2+ years managing engineering teams.
• Search experience—relevance, ranking, or retrieval systems.
• Deep expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, and React across full stack.
• Experience designing and operating scalable microservice architectures in cloud-native environments (AWS).
• Strong understanding of GraphQL, Kafka, PostgreSQL, and OpenSearch.
• Proven track record operating high-traffic, low-latency production systems at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow the Maps & Search team, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, and career development.
• Stay hands-on with code reviews, architecture decisions, and thorny debugging.
• Own and scale a high-throughput search platform handling ~1B monthly requests.
• Deliver a world-class home search experience across web and mobile to boost engagement and conversions.
• Push forward AI-powered discovery by integrating LLMs and intelligent ranking into search workflows.
• Shape the roadmap with product and design — translate user needs into a clear technical plan and own end-to-end delivery.
