Job summary

Okta is seeking an Engineering Manager for Governance Intelligence to lead ML-powered features for government-focused identity governance. You will design, build, and maintain robust backend services and intuitive frontends, with a strong emphasis on AI-native engineering and secure, scalable access control.

You will guide a team of ML experts and engineers, establish evals for AI quality, and own end-to-end product delivery from data curation to deployment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering with 3+ in management shipping enterprise cloud software.
• Hands-on coding in Java, Python, or TypeScript; API and UI automation experience.
• Experience with CI/CD, containers, and major cloud platforms.
• Ability to apply AI tooling across the full SDLC and guide a team.
• Proven backend architecture design and complex API integration.
• Strong understanding of web auth flows and data security.
• Deep backend expertise in Java or a type-safe language.
• Fullstack capabilities to ship robust frontends.

Responsibilities

• Lead ML and engineering teams to deliver governance intelligence features.
• Create eval frameworks, measure factuality and task completion, enforce quality gates.
• Own end-to-end AI product lifecycle from framing to deployment.
• Architect and deploy cloud and on-prem environments with security baselines.
• Support operations in federal environments and ensure compliance.
• Address tech debt and improve CI/CD, observability, and docs.
• Partner with Product and Design to align outcomes with customer needs.
• Mentor reporting engineers to raise team technical bar.
