Job summary

Okta seeks a seasoned Engineering Manager for Governance Intelligence to lead ML and software engineering efforts, shaping AI-powered identity governance solutions. You will guide architecture, development, and deployment across cloud and on‑prem environments, ensuring secure, scalable access and strong collaboration with Product and Design.

You will mentor engineers, design evals for AI quality, and advance CI/CD, observability, and documentation to raise the technical bar across the team.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering, including 3+ in a management role.
• Hands-on coding in Java, Python, or TypeScript, with REST/gRPC APIs and UI automation.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, containers (Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud platforms.
• Deep understanding of AI in the software lifecycle and ability to adopt new AI tooling.
• Proven ability to design scalable backend architectures and integrate complex APIs.
• Strong knowledge of web authentication, authorization, and secure data handling.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of ML engineers and other developers to deliver Governance Intelligence features.
• Design eval frameworks to measure factuality, relevance, and task completion; enforce quality gates.
• Own end-to-end AI product lifecycle from problem framing to deployment and improvement.
• Architect and deploy cloud and on-premises infrastructure meeting high-security baselines.
• Collaborate with Product and Design to align customer outcomes with technical delivery.
• Drive improvements in CI/CD, observability, reliability, and documentation.
