This individual will provide technical and organizational leadership to Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls Engineers, overseeing projects from initial concept and design through manufacturing, integration, testing, and commissioning.

This is primarily a leadership role rather than a hands-on design position. However, the Engineering Manager must have enough technical depth across mechanical design, electrical systems, controls, and automation to effectively guide engineering teams, challenge technical decisions, allocate resources, and ensure successful project execution.

The ideal candidate will come from an AGV/AMR, robotics, material handling, custom machine building, or industrial automation environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls Engineers.
  • Provide engineering leadership for the design and development of AGVs, AMRs, mobile robotics, and related automation systems.
  • Oversee engineering projects from concept and design through fabrication, assembly, integration, testing, installation, and commissioning.
  • Manage engineering resources, project priorities, workloads, schedules, and technical deliverables across multiple projects.
  • Ensure mechanical, electrical, and controls designs successfully integrate into complete automated systems.
  • Partner closely with Project Management to maintain project schedules, budgets, technical requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Conduct and participate in engineering design reviews and technical problem-solving efforts.
  • Provide technical guidance on controls architecture, electrical design, mechanical systems, machine design, and automated equipment.
  • Establish and improve engineering standards, processes, documentation, and design practices.
  • Drive continuous improvement throughout the engineering organization.
  • Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, Project Management, Sales, and field service teams.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues during equipment integration and commissioning.Participate in customer-facing technical discussions and ensure engineered solutions meet application requirements.
  • Develop engineering talent through coaching, performance management, succession planning, and technical development.
  • Promote a culture centered around safety, accountability, technical excellence, collaboration, and on-time project execution.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
  • 8+ years of engineering experience within industrial automation, machine building, robotics, material handling, or a related engineered-equipment environment.
  • Previous experience managing or leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Experience overseeing Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls Engineering functions.
  • Strong understanding of automated equipment and complex electromechanical systems.
  • Experience managing engineering activities across multiple customer projects simultaneously.
  • Strong project management, resource planning, and organizational capabilities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
Preferred Experience

Experience with one or more of the following is highly desirable:

  • Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs)
  • Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs)
  • Automated Guided Carts (AGCs)
  • Robotic Material Handling
  • Warehouse Automation
  • Intralogistics Systems
  • Custom Automation
  • Automated Machinery

What We're Looking For

The strongest candidate will combine people leadership with broad technical knowledge. Direct AGV experience is highly valued; however, candidates with leadership experience in AMRs, robotics, custom automation, warehouse automation, material handling systems, or complex machine building will also be considered.
