Job summary

Aegis Worldwide in Charlotte, NC, is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for AGV, AMR, and industrial automation systems. The role emphasizes leadership over hands-on design, guiding Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls Engineers from concept through commissioning while ensuring safe, on-time project execution.

Direct AGV experience is preferred; candidates from robotics or material handling will be considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of engineering experience in automation or robotics.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.
• Experience overseeing ME, EE, and Controls functions.
• Strong understanding of automated equipment and complex electromechanical systems.
• Experience managing activities across multiple customer projects.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership across technical/non-technical teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls Engineers.
• Provide engineering leadership for AGVs, AMRs, and related automation systems.
• Oversee projects from concept through fabrication, integration, testing, and commissioning.
• Manage resources, priorities, workloads, and technical deliverables across projects.
• Ensure designs integrate into complete automated systems.
• Partner with Project Management on budgets and schedules.
• Conduct design reviews and problem-solving sessions.
• Guide controls architecture, electrical design, and machine safety.
• Develop engineering standards and processes, drive continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, and Sales.
