Job summary

Coram AI in Sunnyvale is seeking an experienced engineering leader to head our California engineering team. This hands‑on role directs architecture and delivery for edge AI, cloud infrastructure, and customer‑facing services, with growth from 50–100 engineers as we scale.

You will hire, mentor, and shape the product direction while collaborating with the CTO, CEO, and product teams to move fast and ship meaningful software for multimodal AI security applications.

Qualifications

• Reached Staff / very senior IC level and spent a couple of years there before moving into management.
• Current or prior experience managing engineers (Tech Lead Manager or Engineering Manager).
• Deep strength in at least one of: distributed / real‑time systems (e.g. C++), robotics / AI, or HPC.
• Time inside an established top‑tier engineering culture with exposure to how a 50–100+ person org operates.
• A strong hiring track record and a high bar for what "great" looks like.
• Still genuinely hands‑on and motivated by ownership, impact, and shaping the product.

Responsibilities

The Role

Lead our entire California engineering team as the engineering leader for our Sunnyvale office. Your team owns critical parts of our edge AI platform, cloud infrastructure, and customer-facing engineering. This is a hands‑on technical leadership role: you'll set direction and grow the team, but stay close to the code through architecture, review, and debugging. You'll start managing the engineers, growing significantly within a year as we scale 2–3x, and work directly with the CTO, CEO, and Product.

What We're Looking For

• Reached Staff / very senior IC level and spent a couple of years there before moving into management (typically after ~4–5 years engineering).

• Current or prior experience managing engineers (Tech Lead Manager or Engineering Manager).

• Deep strength in at least one of: distributed / real‑time systems (e.g. C++), robotics / AI, or HPC.

• Time inside an established top‑tier engineering culture with exposure to how a 50–100+ person org operates.

• A strong hiring track record and a high bar for what "great" looks like.
