Job summary

CPS, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead critical engineering programs at our Illinois facility. You will drive capital project execution, manage the capital budget, and supervise contractor programs to sustain ISO 9001 quality management practices.

The role emphasizes process safety, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement to maximize plant reliability and equipment performance. You will report to the Plant Manager and guide senior engineering staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee capital planning and execute the plan to complete projects on schedule and within budget.
• Direct the capital budget, forecast cash flow for expenditures, and close completed projects.
• Manage the PSM contractor program and coordinate onsite contractors for safety and compliance.
• Collaborate with plant leadership to analyze downtime metrics and drive reliability engineering initiatives.
• Provide high-level technical engineering oversight to optimize unit operations and support long-term quality systems.

Job description

The Engineering Manager reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for developing, implementing, and measuring critical engineering programs to maximize facility reliability. This leadership role drives capital project execution, manages the capital budget, and oversees contractor programs while supporting the plant’s ISO 9001 quality management system through continuous infrastructure improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Capital Project Leadership: Oversee the capital planning process and execute the capital plan to ensure all projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
• Financial Management: Direct the capital budget, manage cash flow forecasting for project expenditures, and oversee the formal closing of completed projects.
• Process Safety & Compliance: Manage the overall PSM contractor program and coordinate onsite contractors to ensure strict alignment with facility safety and regulatory standards.
• Continuous Improvement: Partner with plant leadership to analyze downtime metrics and champion engineering initiatives that enhance overall plant reliability and equipment performance.
• Technical Oversight: Provide high-level technical and engineering expertise to optimize unit operations and support long-term plant quality systems.
