CPS, Inc. is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the maintenance organization, ensure reliable plant equipment, and oversee capital projects in the chemicals manufacturing environment.

The role partners with Plant Manager and Operations Leadership to drive safety, reliability, and continuous improvement across facilities.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of chemical, specialty chemicals, refining, industrial manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of leadership experience managing maintenance teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
  • Experience managing capital projects and maintenance-related initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Knowledge of maintenance repair procedures, installation standards, codes, and specifications.
  • Demonstrated success implementing continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience conducting failure analysis and driving corrective action initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of industrial safety programs and compliance requirements.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the maintenance organization, promoting a culture focused on safety, accountability, and operational excellence.
  • Ensure the reliable operation of plant equipment, utilities, facilities, and infrastructure through effective maintenance planning and execution.
  • Coordinate daily maintenance priorities with production leadership to balance operational needs, reduce downtime, and improve asset availability.
  • Establish and manage preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs that support long-term equipment reliability.
  • Analyze equipment performance and maintenance metrics to identify improvement opportunities and enhance overall plant performance.
  • Lead investigations into equipment failures and operational issues, implementing sustainable corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage departmental resources, including budgeting, staffing, contractors, and maintenance scheduling.
  • Develop team members through coaching, training, performance feedback, and succession planning to build a skilled and engaged workforce.
  • Ensure maintenance employees are trained, understand/stay engaged in all plant safety systems, processes, & initiatives
  • Assist the Plant Manager in the preparation of Capital Investment Requests by first determining the best equipment design and/or facility layout, develop specs, bid drawings, and ensure that the project meets all environmental, safety, production and maintenance requirements.
  • After project approval, purchase and expedite materials, equipment, and services as provided by the Investment Request.
  • Ensure that the project is implemented according to the specification in a safe and timely manner with a minimum disruption to plant activities and housekeeping.

Job description

The Engineering Manager is responsible for ensuring safe and proper maintenance and repair of production equipment. This position will oversee all aspects of the maintenance department including managing personnel, preventative/predictive maintenance programs, spearheading maintenance projects and coordinating with Operations/Production Leadership.

Will work with Plant Manager to prepare capital budget program for the year. Will manage smaller capital/replacement projects. Will do project scope, get project approvals, do preliminary design, work with vendors/contractors on equipment and materials purchase and installation, oversee project budget, schedule & installation. Will be plant liaison on larger capital projects and work with Corporate Project Engineering group.
