Job summary

MCR Hotels in New York City is seeking an Engineering Manager to oversee maintenance of The Lexington Hotel NYC. You will lead a team of engineers, supervise day-to-day operations, manage budgets and capital expenditures, and ensure safety and guest satisfaction through reliable services.

You will coordinate repairs, supervise staff and contractors, and implement energy conservation measures while aligning with hotel objectives and standards.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent; hotel/college training preferred.
  • HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills required.
  • Strong knowledge of local codes and OSHA regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Establish collaborative relationships with team members and guests.
  • Monitor repair work orders for timeliness and quality.
  • Inspect and maintain property systems: HVAC, electrical, plumbing, life safety.
  • Supervise daily engineering operations and staff performance.
  • Prepare logs, manage parts, and supervise contractor work.
  • Provide emergency response 24/7 and safety training.

Job description

Location: The Lexington Hotel NYCThe Engineering Manager is responsible for assisting in maintaining the building and grounds with particular attention towards safety, security, and asset protection. Furthermore, this role assigns, tracks and follows up on status of work assigned to staff and contractors as needed and helps to increase guest and team member satisfaction through effective communications and training. This role will also assist in managing budget, capital expenditures, preventative maintenance, and energy conservation.Responsibilities:•Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with team members•Monitor timeliness and quality of completion of repair work orders•Assist in managing and inspecting the physical property including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life safety systems•Determine work required to above systems regulary•Assist in providing regular on-going communication with team members in order to create awareness of business objectives, communicate expectations, and recognize performance•Recommend or arrange for additional services such as painting, repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment•Select and order or purchase new equipment, supplies, and furnishings•Assist in supervising the day-to-day operations of Engineering and related departments•Maintain accurate logs and records•Operate generators and fire pumps as necessary•Provide emergency response services 24/7•Repair equipment (e.g., refrigeration, laundry) as necessary•Ensure all team members have the proper supplies, equipment, and uniforms•Empower team members to provide excellent customer service, leads by example•Train team members in safety procedures•Communicate performance expectations in accordance with job descriptions•Assist in interviews and hiring of team members with the appropriate skills•Conduct fire drills and earthquake drills/evacuations on a quarterly basis for complianceRequirements:•High school degree (or equivalency) with Hotel/College training preferred•Stationary Engineer’s license if required by local code•HVAC, electrical, plumbing, boiler operations and general maintenance skills required•Substantial knowledge of local laws and building codes•A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the Engineering or Maintenance or related field•Hold applicable certificates (Security License, FSD, CPR, etc.)•Knowledge and ability to read P&L, budget, financial statements•Strong oral and written communication skills•Experience working in a labor organized environment preferred•Effective listening skills to understand and clarify concerns from team members and guests•Excellent problem solving and creative thinking skills•Solid background in OSHA regulations, emergency planning and response efforts and follow all legal safety requirements•Ability to focus attention to performance of tasks despite frequent, stressful, or unusual interruptions•Ability to de-escalate situations and remain calm under pressure•Organizational skills and attention to detail•Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office•Excellent time management•Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment•Strong leadership and communication skills•An aptitude for self-motivation•A can-do attitude and a hands-on approach•A flexible schedule that allows availability days, nights, holidays, and weekends based on the demands of the hotelOur Company• MCR is the 3rd-largest hotel owner-operator in the United States.• Founded in 2006, our company has offices in New York City, Dallas, Chicago, and Richmond, Virginia.• MCR has a $5.0 billion portfolio of 148 premium-branded hotels containing more than 22,000 guestrooms across 37 states and 106 cities.• MCR has more than 7,000 team members across the country and operates hotels under 9 Marriott brands, 8 Hilton brands and a number of unflagged independent hotels.• MCR was named one of Fast Company’s 10 Most Innovative Travel Companies of 2020.• MCR is a three-time recipient of the Marriott Partnership Circle Award, the highest honor Marriott presents to its owner and franchise partners, and a recipient of the Hilton Legacy Award for Top Performer.• For the TWA Hotel at New York’s JFK Airport, MCR won the Development of the Year (Full Service) Award at The Americas Lodging Investment Summit (ALIS), the Urban Land Institute New York Excellence in Hotel Development Award and the American Institute of Architects national Architecture Award, the highest honor given by the AIAWhat we offer/What’s in it for you?• Hotel Discounts• Weekly Pay• Paid Time Off• Retirement Options• Referral bonuses• Career advancement & upward mobility• Health, Dental, Vision Insurance- available after 30 days of employment for full-time team members
