S eeking an experienced Engineering Manager with a structural engineering background & direct experience with precast and/or prestressed concrete to support the engineering operations of a leading construction & precast manufacturing company.
Position Summary
This is a senior-level engineering leadership role requiring an active Professional Engineer (PE) license and direct professional experience working with precast and/or prestressed concrete structural design. The role is primarily focused on engineering oversight, technical review, problem-solving, and team leadership.
Qualified candidates should have at least 8 years of structural engineering experience and multiple years of experience leading or mentoring teams. You’ll provide leadership, oversee engineering activities, review designs and calculations, and partner with production and field teams to resolve technical issues. Must have a strong technical understanding of precast/prestressed concrete engineering.
What You'll Do
- Lead day-to-day engineering and drafting activities, helping ensure multiple projects remain on schedule and within budget.
- Provide and oversee structural, civil, and life-safety design for precast concrete structures and specialty products.
- Review engineering calculations, precast designs, drawings, specifications, and other technical documents for accuracy and compliance.
- Oversee engineering related to the safe lifting, handling, transportation, and erection of precast concrete structures.
- Provide technical guidance to production, fabrication, quality, operations, and field teams, including resolving constructability issues that arise during manufacturing or installation.
- Respond to RFIs, submittals, design revisions, and other engineering questions throughout the project lifecycle and assist with permitting-related technical submissions.
- Serve as Professional of Record or Structural Professional of Record only on select projects / when assigned, while working under the firm's established responsible-charge structure.
- Manage and review specialized or overflow engineering work performed by outside engineering resources.
- Develop calculation tools, spreadsheets, design aids, and engineering standards that improve consistency and efficiency across repetitive designs.
- Train, mentor, and provide technical leadership to engineers, interns, detailers, and other members of the design team.
Required Qualifications
- Active Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Direct experience with precast and/or prestressed concrete structural design required.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering , Structural Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline required.
- Minimum of 8 years of structural engineering experience , with meaningful precast/prestressed design exposure.
- Previous experience leading, supervising, or providing technical directio n.
- Strong understanding of structural concrete design, including load paths, connections, erection stability, and the behavior of precast/prestressed structures.
- Working knowledge of applicable structural design codes and standards such as IBC, ACI, PCI, ASCE, and AISC .
- Experience with structural analysis/design software such as ETABS, RISA, SAP2000, FEA platforms, or comparable engineering software .
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience designing precast/prestressed concrete structures or components .
- Experience with underground or buried concrete structures, including soil interaction, durability, and applied loading conditions.
- Experience reviewing precast connection designs, lift/handling calculations, erection plans, or similar engineering.
- Experience working directly with manufacturing, fabrication, construction, or field teams to resolve engineering and constructability issues.
