Job Description

Kent is looking for an Engineering Department Manager to be based in Corpus Christi, TX.

The Engineering Department Manager reports to the Director of Engineering and is the single point of accountability for their respective office.

Working with their USA counterparts as well as the Regional Discipline Managers, the Engineering Department Manager is responsible for Optimizing execution Efficiency and Quality by harmonizing systems, tools, work processes, etc. across all offices – ONE KENT.

Responsibilities
  • Work with their Office Department Mangers / Supervisors to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery on all projects.
  • Responsible for Engineering Team performance and adherence to Kent process and procedures (The Kent Way).
  • Responsible for Engineering work hour estimates.
  • Responsible for Engineering Overhead Budget control through effective deployment of personnel and maximizing their utilization.
  • Develop, implement, and manage strategies and organizational plans for project execution consistent with established program business plans, training objectives, and HSSEQ policies.
  • Stay up to date on Engineering systems / tools and industry codes / standards.
  • Develop and recommend improvements to Engineering and Design standards to ensure highly effective and efficient Engineering execution, improve Quality, and lower Cost.
  • Identify potential Engineering risks and develop strategies to mitigate. Implement these strategies and monitor their effectiveness.
  • Work with other Office Functional Leads to optimize interfaces with Engineering.
  • Work with the Quality Team to support internal / external audit requests.
  • Monitor Quality, Schedule Adherence, and Budget for all projects.
  • Keep the Engineering Director well apprised of all major issues and successes.
  • Monitor the design work process for performance / quality and work with the Office Discipline Leadership Team to correct deficiencies.
  • Coordinate with their USA counter parts and the Regional Department Managers to quickly resolve any design interface issues.

In addition to the responsibilities listed herein, the employee may be required to perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management. These tasks will be within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role within the organization. The intent of this provision is to allow for flexibility and adaptability in meeting the dynamic needs of the organization, ensuring that operational requirements can be met efficiently. All such tasks will be assigned considering the employee's current workload and with respect to their professional development.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.
  • P.E. License in the State of Texas.
  • Minimum of 20 years experience in the downstream O&G industry with a minimum of 3 years experience in an Engineering Management role.
  • Mid to Large size EPC project experience. U.S. gulf coast experience and FEED and DD scopes.
  • Broad understanding of multi-discipline Engineering / Design for all project phases.
  • Multiple office project execution experience.
  • Working knowledge of US and International Industry Codes and Standards.

  • Excellent oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Capable of formulating resolutions to technically challenging and/or high-profile issues and effectively communicate with Clients and Senior Management.
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Capable of analyzing and solving complex problems through innovative thought and experience.
