Job summary

Ohio State University seeks a Director of Development in the College of Engineering to advance philanthropic support. You will manage a portfolio of prospective donors and lead strategic solicitations for gifts of $100,000 and above, collaborating with a broad Advancement network.

The role emphasizes relationship-building, data-driven planning, and frequent travel. A dedicated team environment and robust resources support achievement of annual fundraising goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Four (4) years of fundraising experience with at least two (2) years of professional fundraising experience (building relationships towards philanthropic end through making calls, conducting face‑to‑face appointments, creating and presenting proposals, closing gifts) and two (2) years of related experience in marketing, sales, public relations, financial advisement or related field with emphasis on donor cultivation.

Responsibilities

• Identifies, qualifies, and cultivates a portfolio of prospective major gift donors.
• Develops and implements strategic gift solicitations and proposals to donors.
• Oversees and develops staff (if applicable) and manages travel related to fundraising activities.
