Colorado State University Foundation is seeking a Director of Development for the Walter Scott Jr. College of Engineering in Fort Collins, CO.

The role builds and manages a major gifts portfolio, crafting persuasive proposals and coordinating with campus leadership to align donor interests with college priorities. Required seven years in development or related fields, with proven success in $50k+ gifts, and willingness to travel nationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Seven+ years in development or major gifts roles in higher education or similar organizations.
• Proven success in soliciting gifts of $50,000+.
• Ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Willingness to travel nationally and work non-standard hours.
• Valid driver’s license or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Identify, cultivate, and solicit major gifts of $50,000 and above.
• Manage a portfolio of donors and partners with strategic plans.
• Prepare proposals aligning donor interests with College priorities.
• Develop and steward a robust major gifts pipeline.
• Collaborate across departments to maximize fundraising outcomes.
• Make decisions to optimize staff productivity and program impact.
• Engage alumni, donors, and volunteers to meet short and long-term goals.
• Work with faculty and leadership to enhance programs for students and faculty.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to gift policies.
