Lore Group operates Riggs Washington DC, a historic hotel offering guest rooms and a European brasserie-style restaurant. We seek an experienced engineer to oversee maintenance, lead a skilled team, and ensure reliable building systems.

The role requires extensive HVAC, electrical, and plumbing knowledge, plus strong leadership and communication skills. A proactive, hands-on approach keeps boilers, chillers, and systems running smoothly in a demanding hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• Experience and knowledge of all HVAC systems.
• Experience and knowledge of electrical systems.
• Plumbing knowledge; install 120V/208V branch circuits.
• Boilers, chillers and cooling towers experience.
• Proficient with MS Office.
• Electrical/HVAC background with hands-on building trade experience.
• Minimum 5 years engineering or 7 years combined experience.
• Prior team leadership experience.

Riggs Washington DC sits on the iconic downtown corner of Penn Quarter's 9th and F Street in a historic building once home to Riggs National Bank. Each of the Hotel's 181 guest rooms offers a playful nod to the building's legacy. Riggs is home to the all-occasion European brasserie-inspired restaurant Café Riggs, as well as Silver Lyan - a subterranean bar from the internationally acclaimed Ryan Chetiyawardana, also known as Mr Lyan.

Core Essential Functions

• Greet guests in a warm, personable, sincere, and friendly manner.
• Respond and attend to all service/maintenance requests in a timely manner.
• Coach and counsel team as needed and further develop skills.
• Communicate effectively to resolve maintenance issues and concerns.
• Perform preventive maintenance on the hotel's appliances and operating machines.
• Visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines.

• Perform all other duties requested by Chief Engineer.

This position requires the following knowledge, skills and abilities

• Must have experience and demonstrate knowledge of all HVAC systems.
• Must have experience and demonstrate knowledge of electrical systems.
• Knowledgeable in plumbing with the ability to soft solder or electrical with the ability to install new 120V/208V branch circuits.
• Must have experience working with boilers, chillers and cooling towers.
• Proficient in MS Office is a must.
• Electrical / HVAC Background with Hands-on Building Trade Experience Preferred.
• A minimum of 5 years of engineering experience or 7 years of combined engineering/trade experience.
• Previous experience leading a team of engineers is required.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Flexible schedule is required to meet business needs.

Salary Range:

$70,000 - $75,000
