Job summary

Griffith Company is offering a Summer Internship Program for students pursuing Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Mathematics. Interns will support Project Managers, Estimators and field personnel with real-world tasks in Southern and Central California.

The program is learning-intensive, with hands-on experience in CPM scheduling, site documentation, take-offs, and plan reviews. Earn $22.00–$27.00 hourly and gain mentorship and project exposure.

Qualifications

• Students must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the listed areas.
• Internship is paid and learning-intensive.

Responsibilities

• Perform job site administration and documentation (under supervision).
• Assist in developing and maintaining a CPM schedule.
• Track submittals, RFIs and contract change orders, daily cost vs. project budget, quantities and logs.
• Attend bid review meetings with estimators to understand the estimate process.
• Review specifications, drawings and site conditions to determine scope of work.
• Prepare material and quantity take-offs according to project scope.
• Assist with layout and other technical requirements.
• Assist with diesel emissions control plans and storm water protection plans.

What you can expect

As a summer intern you can expect to handle a variety of real world tasks in support of our Project Managers, Estimators, Project Engineers and or field personnel. Below is an example of intern responsibilities:

• Perform job site administration and documentation (under supervision).
• Assist in developing and maintaining a Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule.
• Track 1 or more of the following: submittals, RFI’s and contract change orders, daily cost vs. project budget, quantities and equipment and project logs.
• Attend bid review meetings with estimating team to understand the estimate process.
• Review proposal specifications, drawings, soils reports and existing site conditions to determine scope of work.
• Complete material and quantity take offs according to project scope of work.
• Assist superintendent and foreman with layout and other technical requirements.
• Assist with diesel emissions control plans and monitoring.
• Preparation of work plans and or storm water protection plans.
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction

You will be given as much responsibility as you are willing to accept.

Qualifications

Students must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas or a very similar area:

Hourly Wage Range

$22.00 - $27.00 (depending on internship and educational experience).
