Job summary

Griffith Company invites applicants for its Summer Internship Program in California.

The program offers hands-on experiences supporting Project Managers, Estimators, Project Engineers and field personnel on real construction projects.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering, construction management, mechanical engineering, or mathematics.
• Strong interest in heavy civil construction and internship learning opportunities.
• Ability to handle real-world tasks in support of project teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform job site administration and documentation (under supervision).
• Assist in developing and maintaining a CPM schedule.
• Track submittals, RFIs, and contract change orders; monitor costs and logs.
• Attend bid review meetings with estimating team to understand the estimate process.
• Review proposals, drawings, soils reports and site conditions to determine scope of work.
• Complete material and quantity take offs according to project scope.
• Assist superintendent and foreman with layout and other technical requirements.
• Assist with diesel emissions control plans and monitoring.
• Prepare work plans and storm water protection plans.
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

What you can expect

As a summer intern you can expect to handle a variety of real world tasks in support of our Project Managers, Estimators, Project Engineers and or field personnel. Below is an example of intern responsibilities:

• Perform job site administration and documentation (under supervision).


• Assist in developing and maintaining a Critical Path Method (CPM) schedule.


• Track 1 or more of the following: submittals, RFI’s and contract change orders, daily cost vs. project budget, quantities and equipment and project logs.


• Attend bid review meetings with estimating team to understand the estimate process.


• Review proposal specifications, drawings, soils reports and existing site conditions to determine scope of work.


• Complete material and quantity take offs according to project scope of work.


• Assist superintendent and foreman with layout and other technical requirements.


• Assist with diesel emissions control plans and monitoring.


• Preparation of work plans and or storm water protection plans.


• Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction

You will be given as much responsibility as you are willing to accept.

Qualifications

Students must be currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following areas or a very similar area:

• Civil Engineering


• Construction Management


• Mechanical Engineering


• Mathematics

Hourly Wage Range

$22.00 - $27.00 (depending on internship and educational experience).
