Job summary

The MBTA is seeking two Engineering Interns to support the Stations Department by gathering, organizing, and analyzing information on thousands of assets across MBTA facilities in the Greater Boston area. Interns will work onsite in Charlestown, MA, 40 hours/week, from January 4, 2027 to February 26, 2027, assisting engineers with drawings, data, and asset records.

Ideal candidates are pursuing civil, mechanical, or facilities engineering with strong communication skills and proficiency in

Qualifications

Enrolled in accredited undergraduate engineering program (Facilities/Mechanical/Civil/Structural/Industrial/Environmental).
Strong organizational and data-gathering skills.
Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools; able to navigate fieldwork data.

Responsibilities

Gather and organize information, locations, and photos of asset types (sprinkler, pump rooms, etc.).
Analyze drawings, blueprints, data, and equipment with engineers systemwide.
Travel MBTA system to collect facility-related data; organize for easy navigation.
Produce, alter, and analyze drawings using AutoCAD; audit service contracts.
Attend team meetings and fieldwork; provide professional experience to customers.
