Job summary

NWU in Erie is seeking an entry-level engineering professional to lead or support technical work in a manufacturing plant. You will help with engineering, maintenance, tooling, and troubleshooting while learning plant layouts, systems, and specs.

The role emphasizes Lean practices and cost reduction. Ideal candidates are pursuing an engineering BS with project management exposure and strong communication skills; preferred are Lean/Six Sigma experience and familiarity with coding and tools used

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Plastics, Manufacturing, or equivalent).
• Project management experience and familiarity with project management tools and software.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to summarize information clearly.
• Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience preferred.
• Coding and programming and hand/power tools experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leading or supporting technical work within the plant, including engineering, maintenance, tooling, and troubleshooting.
• Maintaining an in-depth understanding of plant infrastructure, systems, and equipment.
• Consistently reducing operational waste and costs.
• Exercising and advancing Lean Manufacturing practices.
• Providing reliable technical support to the local plant and organization.
• Performing in-depth analyses to understand system gaps and issues.
• Maintaining updated plant layouts, floor plans, system schematics, and specifications.
