Job summary

Minerals Technologies Inc. (MTI) is seeking an Engineering Intern to support manufacturing and process improvement projects on-site in Lucerne Valley, CA.

You will gain hands-on experience in project management, data analysis, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement while contributing to safety and quality objectives. Responsibilities include assisting with projects, collecting technical data, and collaborating across engineering and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Relevant coursework or projects in engineering principles.
• Experience using data analysis, CAD, or engineering software is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and interpret technical data.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Attention to detail and accuracy; willingness to learn new technologies.
• Ability to follow all safety policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with engineering projects related to manufacturing, process improvement, equipment reliability, product quality, safety, and operational efficiency.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret technical data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Support process optimization, cost reduction, and productivity initiatives.
• Assist in troubleshooting equipment and production issues.
• Participate in project planning, execution, and tracking activities.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, reports, and procedures.
• Conduct research to support engineering recommendations and goals.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, quality, environmental, and safety teams.
• Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process improvements.
• Participate in plant, laboratory, office, and field activities as required.
• Present project findings and recommendations at internship conclusion.
