Job summary

Commercial Metals Company is seeking interns to learn across our recycling centers, fabrication plants, manufacturing facilities, steel mills, and offices. Interns will gain hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to multiple departments while contributing ideas and supporting continuous improvement.

You will rotate through roles, shadow various job duties, and participate in safety programs as you develop technical and problem-solving skills on real projects within our steel construction

Qualifications

  • PLC troubleshooting experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in extreme heat.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment required.
  • Ability to work independently with moderate level of direction.
  • Critical thinking, strong analytical and problem solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Passion for innovation and a leader for change.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture.
  • Gain knowledge about Steel Making processes through job shadowing and hands on activities Intern will spend time in each job role throughout the department.
  • Works cross functionally under direction to improve manufacturing/department processes.
  • Completes special projects as assigned by their manager, to include analysis and change continuous improvement recommendations as requested.
  • Participates in team meetings and activitiesPerforms other duties as assigned.
  • Plan, coordinate, and communicate with peers and supervisors daily to ensure safe operations, preservation of company assets, environmental compliance, cost and energy consciousness, and to promote the values of the CMC people program.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering on capital projects and commissioning of new equipment
