Job summary

Goodwyn Mills Cawood, LLC (GMC) is a leading architecture and engineering firm with offices across the Southeast. We invite University of Alabama students to join as an Engineering Intern to support ongoing projects in the Birmingham and Montgomery offices.

You will assist in preparing reports, site plans, permit documents, and construction schedules, under Engineer-of-Record supervision, gaining exposure to multiple disciplines and client coordination while experiencing both office and field

Qualifications

Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering from ABET-accredited university.
Working knowledge of AutoCAD; Civil3D experience preferred.
Field work experience and understanding of engineering principles beneficial.

Responsibilities

Apply technical skills to routine projects with minimal supervision.
Direct technicians for production of engineering documents for routine projects.
Execute cross-discipline checks and coordination.
Review project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
Assist in learning the needs of assigned clients.
Understand ethical obligations to client and public welfare.
Work across disciplines and offices to utilize firm knowledge.
Prepare reports and technical memorandums with oversight by the Engineer-of-Record.
