Job summary

FM invites engineering interns to join a hands-on program combining field visits, office work, and special projects over a 10-week period. You will shadow experienced consultants, learn COPE concepts, and develop practical skills in building construction, assessments, and risk analysis.

You will gain exposure to departmental workflows, participate in hands-on site visits, and deliver a technical project under FM Supervisors' guidance, building your path to a rewarding career in risk management

Qualifications

• Plan to graduate with a bachelor's degree in engineering (civil, chemical, mechanical, industrial, electrical, etc.) or fire protection.
• Ability to work full time during summer internship and commute to assigned operation.
• Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle throughout internship.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; good analytical, organizational, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
• Physical ability to climb commercial ladders (e.g. inspect roofs), lift >25 lbs, and work in confined spaces.
• Proficient in MS Office products.

Responsibilities

• Shadow FM consultants during field visits and assist with site assessments at commercial properties.
• Participate in FM training to learn COPE fundamentals and loss prevention standards.
• Lead and deliver a technical project as assigned by FM Supervisors.
• Document risk analyses of locations visited and communicate findings to clients.
• Support special projects and gain exposure to multiple departments within FM Global.
• Shadow professionals to gain a holistic understanding of the company and engineering team.
