Job summary

Eversource Energy in Westwood, MA is offering an Engineering Internship in the Distribution System Modeling and Automation team. The internship provides hands-on experience in electric distribution system modeling, power system studies, and engineering automation tools, with mentorship and leadership exposure.

Pay rates are hourly, ranging from 21.20 to 32.30 USD per hour, and the program runs in the summer (5/26/27–8/13/27).

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Applied Mathematics, or related quantitative discipline.
• Exposure to AI, machine learning, or data-driven analysis is desirable but not required.
• Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Python, SQL or similar tools through coursework or internships is a plus.
• Coursework in Power Systems, Electric Machines, Distribution System Analysis, Control Systems, Data Analytics, or Numerical Methods.

Responsibilities

• Assist with development, maintenance, and validation of Synergi Electric distribution system models for planning studies.
• Learn best practices in automated distribution system modeling, simulation, power system analysis, data management, and automation.
• Participate in team meetings, training, and projects supporting modernization of the distribution system.
• Support distribution planning activities including identifying constraints, deficiencies, and mitigations.
