Job summary

Nortech Systems Inc. in Bemidji, MN is seeking a motivated engineering student for a hands-on internship supporting electro-mechanical device design, testing, and documentation. You will contribute to parts lists and supplier research while collaborating with experienced engineers.

Responsibilities include reading specs, using CAD software, and drafting engineering drawings. Mentorship will be provided, with real-world project exposure in medical and aerospace components.

Qualifications

• Reading, creating, and interpreting detailed engineering specifications.
• Using engineering design and related CAD/software applications.
• Working as part of an engineering project team dedicated to design, problem solving, troubleshooting, and collaborating to create or improve products and/or components.
• “Hands on” engineering project design and lab work including fabrication, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Communicating and presenting ideas and concepts orally and in writing.
• General knowledge of engineering terminology and concepts with specialized knowledge in field of study.
• Experience using Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and/or similar software collaboration tools at a proficient level.

Responsibilities

• Work on assigned electro-mechanical device, component, assembly design and testing projects.
• Draft or update engineering drawings and models for assigned products and assemblies.
• Assist with product, component, assembly, and equipment testing, calibration and troubleshooting.
• Research part and component suppliers, accurately create and maintain parts lists.
• Present project research and/or testing findings and recommendations to engineering and/or manufacturing teams.
• Communicate with and engage with cross-functional subject matter experts including manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and others as needed to problem solve and complete assignments.
• Communicate with customers and suppliers as requested.
• Demonstrate and support Nortech’s Mission, Core Values, policies and procedures at all times.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
