Job summary

Nortech Systems in Bemidji, MN is seeking an engineering undergraduate to contribute to electro-mechanical device design and testing on a part-time, on-site basis.

You will draft drawings, update models, and help with testing, calibration, and troubleshooting while collaborating with cross-functional teams and suppliers. This internship-like role supports lifesaving products and emphasizes hands-on experience in engineering design and manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in engineering.

Responsibilities

• Work on assigned electro-mechanical device, component, assembly design and testing projects.
• Draft or update engineering drawings and models for assigned products and assemblies.
• Assist with product testing, calibration and troubleshooting.
• Research part and component suppliers, create and maintain parts lists.
• Present project research/findings to engineering/manufacturing teams.

Responsibilities:

• Work on assigned electro-mechanical device, component, assembly, tooling, fixture, and assembly design and testing projects.
• Draft or update engineering drawings and models for assigned products and assemblies.
• Assist with product, component, assembly, and equipment testing, calibration and troubleshooting.
• Research part and component suppliers, accurately create and maintain parts lists.
• Present project research and/or testing findings and recommendations to engineering and/or manufacturing teams.
• Communicate with and engage with cross-functional subject matter experts including manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and others as needed to problem solve and complete assignments.
• Communicate with customers and suppliers as requested.
• Demonstrate and support Nortech’s Mission, Core Values, policies and procedures at all times.
• May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required

• Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in engineering with concentration in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Robotics, or related subject area.
• Reading, creating, and interpreting detailed engineering specifications.
• Using engineering design and related CAD/software applications.
• Working as part of an engineering project team dedicated to design, problem solving, troubleshooting, and collaborating to create or improve products and/or components.
• “Hands on” engineering project design and lab work including fabrication, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Communicating and presenting ideas and concepts orally and in writing.
• General knowledge of engineering terminology and concepts with specialized knowledge in field of study.
• Experience using Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, and/or similar software collaboration tools at a proficient level.

Preferred

• Specialized knowledge or experience directly related to the position

The pay range for this role is $22.30 or $24.90 hourly. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, and other candidate qualifications.
