Job summary

Martin Marietta is offering a 10-week Production Internship to support Asphalt and Paving operations, with hands-on experience in production planning, estimation, quality control, and safety. The program provides structured learning, field exposure, and project-based assignments.

You will work with estimators, engineers, and field crews, gaining insight into costing, bid processes, and production management while developing practical industry skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a relevant Engineering/Construction degree.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• No work experience required; internship preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist estimating with cost estimates for asphalt paving, grading, and roadway projects.
• Review project plans, bid packages, specs, and drawings to understand requirements.
• Gather pricing info for materials, equipment, labor, trucking, and subcontracted services.
• Maintain estimating databases and historical cost records.
• Participate in bid preparation activities and estimate reviews.
• Learn to evaluate project risks, production challenges, and profitability considerations.
• Observe and support bid submissions and competitive bidding practices.
• Gain exposure to asphalt plant operations, production planning, inventory, and material handling.
• Assist operations in monitoring production activities for efficiency and quality.
• Learn about asphalt mix designs, raw materials, aggregates, and production controls.
• Observe maintenance activities and equipment inspections for reliability.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiency.
• Track production metrics and performance indicators.
• Attend site visits to understand production methods and field operations.
• Engage in internship learning activities and training opportunities.
• Build relationships with leaders, estimators, engineers, project managers, and field personnel.
• Attend meetings and reviews to broaden industry knowledge.
• Complete assigned projects and present findings to management.
• Demonstrate initiative and willingness to learn new skills and processes.
• Explore potential career paths within Operations, Estimating, Construction, QC, and Production.
