Job summary

Carter Machinery Co. Inc. is seeking an Engineering Intern to support Power Systems sales in Richmond, VA. You will help with vendor transactions, switchgear projects, parts orders, shipping, and paperwork to keep sales moving.

Ideal candidates are self-starters with strong mechanical and electrical aptitude, able to read wiring diagrams, and proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, and Word. Current enrollment in a 4-year engineering program is required.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Currently enrolled as a full-time student in a 4-year engineering degree program.
• Proficient with AutoCAD—reading, modifying, and preparing drawings.
• Proficient in Adobe, Microsoft Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

• Assist Power Systems Sales personnel with vendor transactions, switchgear and panel retrofit projects, parts orders, shipping and processing paperwork to facilitate sales.
• Support coordination and documentation tasks to ensure accurate and timely order fulfillment.
• Promote a positive customer experience and uphold Carter Way core values.

The Engineering Intern is responsible for assisting Power Systems Sales personnel with vendor transactions, switchgear and panel retrofit projects, parts orders, shipping, coordination and processing paperwork to facilitate sales.

Requirements for the Engineering Intern position include:

• Self-starter able to work with limited supervision
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude required
• Must be able to read wiring diagrams and follow during the assembly process
• Proficient with AutoCAD- reading, modifying and preparing drawings
• Proficient using Adobe, Microsoft Excel and Word
• Proficient in using the Internet to obtain information
• Must be able to organize, control and archive documentation
• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
• Promote a positive customer experience

Seeking Candidates with:

• High School diploma or GED required

Physical Requirements:

• Frequently sitting for extended periods of time
• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to 70 pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
