Job summary

Control Devices, LLC is seeking an Engineering Intern to support the Engineering group with document control, CAD drawing, design work, production testing and quality engineering tasks. The intern will assist in CAD/design, tooling and fixtures, and production equipment testing while contributing to root cause analysis and process improvements.

The role is based in Fenton, MO and requires actively pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree with strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

  • Actively pursuing a Mechanical Engineering degree with at least 30 credit hours completed.

Responsibilities

  • Produce models, assemblies and drawings in SolidWorks.
  • Manage controlled documents.
  • Assist with production testing.
  • Support manufacturing engineering with testing, design, and new product/tooling development.
  • Perform other engineering related tasks as assigned.

Job description

Position Title:Engineering Intern

Department:Engineering

Location:Fenton, MO

Reports To:Engineering Manager

Classification:Hourly - Non-Exempt

(Spring Co-Op is estimated to start January 2027 - August 2027)

Position Summary:

The Engineering Intern is primarily responsible for supporting the Engineering group with document control, CAD drawing, design work, production testing and other engineering related tasks. Additionally, the Intern will be supporting the group with CAD and design work, production tooling and fixtures, and production equipment testing. Intern will also assist the Quality Engineering group as needed to perform Root Cause Analysis, product and process improvements, and ongoing product reliability testing.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Producing models, assemblies and drawings in SolidWorks.
  • Managing controlled documents.
  • Assisting with production testing.
  • Support manufacturing engineering group as required with testing, designing, and
  • developing new products, tooling, and equipment.
  • Other engineering related tasks as assigned.

Required Education:

  • Actively working towards a Mechanical Engineering degree with at least 30 credit hours completed.

Required Experience/Skills:

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience contributing as an individual and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail when performing tasks.
  • Sound problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Result oriented with a high commitment level.
  • Develop and manage priorities to ensure timely completion of tasks.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated, good organizational abilities.
  • Ability to actively participate in various teams and initiatives.
  • Ability to support efforts for continuous improvements in process efficiency and cost reduction.
  • Ability to perform job without risk of injury to self or others.

Desired Experience:

  • Familiarity with SolidWorks.
  • Experience working in ISO quality systems preferred but not required.

Work Environment:

  • Office, machine shop, assembly factory, and tool and die model shop.
