Job summary

Control Devices, LLC, based in the Saint Louis area, is seeking a Product Engineer to lead new product design and development within the Engineering department in Fenton, MO. You will work closely with sales, customers, and production to design, engineer, and commercialize new products, while driving quality and cost-saving initiatives.

The role requires leadership of mechanical engineering projects, CAD proficiency, and collaboration with multiple departments to deliver reliable, manufacturable

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Experience leading mechanical engineering projects.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools such as SolidWorks/AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Lead designs from concept through commercialization, meeting performance and cost targets.
  • Conceive actions to solve mechanical problems and develop solutions.
  • Develop solutions using CAD and coordinate with 3D modelers.
  • Present ideas through design reviews and signoffs.
  • Validate designs through lab testing and end-user feedback.
  • Interface with Sales, Manufacturing, Quality and Purchasing to drive product improvements.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Position Title: Product Engineer

Department: Engineering

Location: Fenton, MO

Reports To: Director of Product Engineering

Classification: Salary – Exempt

Position Summary:

The primary function of the position is to provide leadership for new product design and development as well as support for current production lines. This position works closely with sales and our customers for leading the design, engineering, and commercialization of new products. In addition, supports initiatives for improved quality and cost saving projects for existing products. This role requires interaction with customers, sales, manufacturing, purchasing and quality departments.

Essential Job Duties
  • Support designs from concept development through product commercialization. Meet defined product performance and cost targets while demonstrating superior reliability and manufacturability.
  • Conceive ideas and plans of action to solve mechanical problems.
  • Develop the solutions using CAD and communication with 3D modelers.
  • Present ideas through design reviews and drawing signoffs.
  • Validate designs through lab testing and end user review.
  • Interfaces with Sales, Manufacturing, Quality and Purchasing to provide strategic direction to grow, develop and improve our products and customer base.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Required Education

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering

Required Experience
  • Experience leading mechanical engineering projects including defining requirements, developing concepts and detailed designs, qualify the product through analysis and test, and support the design transfer to manufacturing.
  • Experience with metal manufacturing processes including machining and assembly.
  • Experience with design software including but not limited to; SolidWorks, Auto CAD and Labview.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in flow control product design and manufacturing a preferred but not required.
  • Experience in electromechanical design knowledge is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of APQP, Lean Manufacturing, Design for Manufacturing, and 8D Corrective Actions preferred but not required.

Working Conditions

Office environment with interaction on manufacturing floor and Engineering Test Lab. Employees are required to wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (earplugs, safety glasses, closed-toed shoes, etc.) at all times when interacting on the manufacturing floor.
