Job summary

Metallus in Eaton, Ohio, invites eager engineering students for a full-time summer internship in 2027. You will assist engineers with daily production and maintenance support, troubleshoot equipment and analyze data to drive improvements.

The program emphasizes hands-on experience, real-world projects, and career readiness workshops. Preferred majors include Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, with PLC/robotics exposure and AutoCAD/CAM skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
• Must have completed 30+ credit hours by end of spring 2027.
• Must be a full-time student at an accredited college/university.
• Preferred majors: Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience with PLC Controls, Robotics, or automation.

Responsibilities

• Assist engineers with day-to-day technical support for production and maintenance activities.
• Support troubleshooting of equipment and process issues to minimize downtime.
• Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
• Assist in developing and updating work instructions.
• Participate in process improvement and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Support small capital or continuous improvement projects, including design, planning, and execution.
• Work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and quality teams.
• Create and update technical documentation, drawings, and reports.
• Lead a process or equipment improvement project focused on increasing efficiency, reducing downtime, or improving product quality.

Internship Assignment: Full Time - Summer 2027

• Assist engineers with day‑to‑day technical support for production and maintenance activities
• Support troubleshooting of equipment and process issues to minimize downtime
• Collect and analyze operational data to identify trends and improvement opportunities
• Assist in developing and updating work instructions
• Participate in process improvement and cost‑reduction initiatives

• Preferred majors: Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related
• Experience with PLC Controls, Robotics, or automation
• AutoCAD & CAM experience
