Job summary

The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County seeks entry-level Engineers-in-Training for Metro Water Services across Development, Water/Wastewater Operations, Engineering and Stormwater divisions. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in engineering and an Engineer in Training certification with a six-month completion window.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Engineer in Training Certification (within six months of appointment).
• Valid Driver License required.
• Accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Reviews subdivision plats, grading, drainage and erosion control plans for compliance.
• Interacts with engineers, developers, property owners and the public on department projects.
• Performs flow analysis and hydraulic modeling of water and sewer systems.
• Assists with plans, specs, and cost estimates for water/sewer systems and stormwater.
• Manages design and construction contracts for water/sewer infrastructure.
• Conducts field surveys to verify collection data.
• Investigates construction and design problems and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Develops bid documentation and prepares detailed drawings.
