Job description

Job Overview

Engineering Field Specialist supporting Commercial & Industrial Demand Response programs in Virginia. Local and on‑site technical representative applying energy engineering analysis to support demand response curtailment strategies, energy efficiency initiatives, and customer program participation.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct on‑site evaluations and engineering analysis of commercial and industrial energy systems to assess demand response potential and overall performance.
  • Collect, validate, and analyze field data, including load profiles, equipment performance, and operational characteristics.
  • Apply engineering principles to develop, calculate, and verify baselines, load reductions, and curtailment strategies.
  • Translate data insights into actionable recommendations to improve program outcomes and customer participation.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between customers, account managers, and internal engineering teams, providing guidance, training, and support.
  • Troubleshoot complex systems and resolve issues using analytical, data‑driven approaches while ensuring accuracy and integrity of program data.
Qualifications
  • 6+ years of relevant experience in energy engineering, field engineering, or technical energy program delivery.
  • Associate’s degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience required; Bachelor’s degree in energy engineering, mechanical/electrical systems, or related field strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with energy calculations, load analysis, or demand response/energy efficiency programs.
  • Valid driver’s license, 21+ years old, clean driving record, and reliable vehicle for travel throughout the Virginia utility territory.
  • Strong analytical and data‑driven problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to train customers and internal stakeholders.
Compensation

Target compensation $56,000 – $68,000 depending on experience. Salary range $55,700.00 – $83,500.00 in USD.
