Job summary

Akron Children's Hospital is seeking an Operations Manager Engineering to oversee the daily operations of the Facilities Maintenance Department, ensuring safe and effective management of all facilities. The role involves supervising staff, budgeting, and coordinating with the Director of Facilities on strategic oversight.

Experience in healthcare facilities, building codes, NFPA, and life safety regulations is required, with preferred certifications CHFM or CLSS-HC.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
5–7 years of relevant experience and 3–5 years supervising teams.
Valid state driver’s license and insurance eligibility.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily operations of Facilities Maintenance; ensure safety and efficiency.
Supervise staff, coach, train and manage performance toward goals.
Coordinate with Director of Facilities on departmental oversight.
Prepare and manage budget; maintain expenditure controls.
Assign work to the Facilities Maintenance crew; provide direction as needed.
Communicate issues to hospital departments and external contacts.
Assist in projects with contractors; review architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing plans.
Plan utility shutdowns and coordinate with hospital departments.
